Kim did my mother’s floors at her beautiful ($1.5-$2 million) house in La Jolla years ago and has raved about her ever since. She said that Kim was incredibly patient and spent several hours to help her choose the perfect color. She also put on some type of finish that made the floors extra-durable. I just went with someone else to do my floors – because my mother couldn’t remember Kim’s name – we asked him about the special finish that made her floors so durable, how some woman who did floors had done my mother’s…. My guy said, “That must be Kim from Dependable…they’re old-school…and VERY good”. My guy is doing a good job but I wish I’d known Kim’s name sooner and used her services.

Kim is great. I found her on Yelp, and I knew from the reviews that she was the right person to restore the floors in our 1940’s house. She can be a little difficult to talk to on the phone, but don’t let that put you off, she is a master of her trade, and you won’t be disappointed.

Kim uses moisture cured urethane on her floors, which is not only hard to buy these days, but is also extremely difficult to work with. This is why most hardwood floor guys won’t touch the stuff, but there is nothing out there that is more durable….it’s what they use on bowling alleys and gymnasium floors.

I really enjoyed working with Kim, as she really cared about the quality of her work. We had some rain during our job, so the second coat didn’t cure in time for the 3rd, so Kim offered to come back on Sunday to finish the job. Excellent service at a very reasonable price.

The best in San Diego since 1926!!! I have used this hardwood floor service for 30 years. Even after 10 years of kid traffic, they hold up and beautiful. Why? The HOLCOMB family (which if you are a Point Loma or Pacific Beach person) has been the hallmark of finishing floors…they are artists and look at detail, detail, detail. Many people lost touch with them since the patriarch Don Holcomb passed on in 2012 but his daughter who had worked with him for 30 years still personally does the floors. Our last job they sanded and finished for 5 days before staining and coating them. No short cuts and the price was mid range. Other estimates came in $1500 more and once she said her name was Kim HOLCOMB, we knew we had found the best. Her address has changed and she doesn’t spend time on internet.

You have found a master when you get Kim HOLCOMB to refinish your floors. That’s right, all of Point Loma, Banker’s Hill, Ocean Beach, and Pacific Beach remembers the HOLCOMB floor finishing family in business since 1926 and still has family member doing the work! I had Don Holcomb do several floors 25-30 years ago and they held up. Then, lost his number and the last floor didn’t last 6 years. Now I found that Don Holcomb passed on 1 year ago and his daughter (who had worked along side of him for 30 years) is still in business. She just spends time with her love of flooring and not the internet. I looked at floors she did 10 years ago and they were as good as today even with a family of kids. Just had her do ours and they spent 4-5 days sanding alone with perfectionism prep before staining and sealing this week. Gorgeous job and the price was mid range ($1500) under other bids.
